# LiteScribe

> LiteScribe records and transcribes meetings, lectures and interviews, and turns any audio or video into searchable text with speaker labels, timestamps and AI notes. It transcribes in 99 languages, translates transcripts into other languages on every plan, and lets you ask AI questions across your whole transcript library with 14+ leading AI models (GPT, Claude, Gemini and more) included free on every plan, no API key needed. Available as a web app, a desktop app (Windows, macOS, Linux), mobile apps (iOS, Android) and a Chrome extension.

How people use it: record a meeting live from system audio (no bot joins the call), upload a lecture or interview recording, paste a YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Vimeo or Twitch link, or pull a file from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. The transcript comes back with speaker labels, an AI summary, action items and topic tags, and you can translate it: pick a target language when you upload, or press the Translate button on the transcript page afterwards (19 target languages). Link imports translate from the transcript's menu in the Transcripts list. Measured real-world accuracy is 94.1%.

## AI assistants (MCP connector)

LiteScribe runs a remote MCP server at https://mcp.litescribe.ai/mcp (Streamable HTTP). People connect it with their normal LiteScribe sign-in (OAuth, no API key) on every plan, including Free. Connected AI apps can search and read recordings, transcripts, summaries, action items and folders; renaming, moving and share links only with the user's permission, and no tool deletes anything.

## Private and offline (Local Mode)

- [Private and offline transcription](https://litescribe.ai/private): Desktop-only Local Mode transcribes on your own CPU or GPU and writes AI notes on-device, so your audio never leaves your machine (Windows, macOS, Linux). Local Mode needs a Pro or Business plan, or any minute pack for 30 days. Note: the web app, the mobile apps and the cloud path use a US-based speech-to-text provider plus cloud LLMs and are not private; only the desktop Local Mode keeps audio on-device. The transcript syncs to your own LiteScribe account unless you turn transcript sync off in Settings, Privacy. The app is not air-gapped: it reconnects periodically to validate the plan, which carries no audio or transcript.

## Languages

LiteScribe transcribes 99 languages. Each language guide says what you get in that language: upload or record, a transcript with speaker labels and timestamps, translation with the Translate button, and export. Live transcription, with the words appearing as people speak, works in 18 of them (6 on the standard model, 12 with High Accuracy, which uses 2 minutes for every minute recorded); every other language is recorded first and transcribed when the recording ends.
